Concept
When roasting coffee, the devil is in the details. Roasts are usually controlled by comparing regular samples with a former successful roast. Along with a colleague I am carrying out the development and maturing of a coffee palette to support roasters in their work in co-operation with the company Coffee-Mind. The palette was used by the German participant in the most recent world championship of coffee roasting.
My role
We have used 3D printed shells to prototype the shape of an ideal coffee palette, tested out colors and wood species for the optimal comparison of beans and used CAD modelling and machine milling to manufacture the first prototypes. As of now production is about to begin, and the product can be ordered from Coffee-Mind’ webshop.
